This sedan chair is a Ningbo-style sedan chair in the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. It is made of wood and decorated with gold foil.
The sedan chair is decorated with three techniques: round carving, relief carving and open carving. On the top of the sedan chair is a three-dimensional blooming lotus flower made of tin. There are 250 figures, flowers, birds, insects and beasts carved on the sedan chair. The structure of this sedan chair is symmetrical, with 24 phoenixes, 38 dragons, 54 cranes, 74 magpies, 92 lions and 124 pomegranates.
There is also a group of round-carved figures that make up the opera scenes. The middle section of the sedan chair is also supplemented by lens glass paintings, and each color painting is also a fragment of a classical drama. This sedan is composed of hundreds of detachable flower panels, and there is no special sedan door. There are no nails on the sedan, and they are all connected by a tenon-and-mortise structure.
